The Simple Way To Start An IT Company

This is for all the idea-geeks out there whove been wanting to launch that brilliant, innovative, new, fresh web 2.0 application, design agency or development company but got stuck where 90% of the people do. Funding.

So heres 5 simple steps that have done magic for our company.

1. Dont be afraid.

Statistics say 90% of the people prefer a smaller but safe income than try something on their own. Statistics also say that 50% of the businesses get flushed out the toilet. So I guess that fear is justified, ha? Well, if you ask me, it isnt. How do you know youre business isnt going to work if you dont start one. Go ahead. Work on your smart idea. Make a business plan. Focus on what you have to do rather than what youd like to do. Compromise.

2. Get money in.

Youd like to invest some money but you dont have them, ha? No problem. Our days, all it takes is a website and a few referrals to get you rolling. Build that nifty presentation website. Print your short and clear business plan. Talk to your parents, friends, colleagues. See if theyre interested in joining you on your new adventure.

After you have some money in, say 500 dollars, start looking for web design clients (people/companies that need websites). You dont know how to build websites? No problem, well get to that part too. Bid on freelancing websites. Post announcements in the newspaper. Do everything you can to get that first client. The rest will follow.

Ok, so after you get that first web design client, how do you build his website? Well, outsourcing. Find a Romanian, Indian, whatever company that will build it, for a lot less money youre going to get from the client, I can assure you. Youll see that the 500 dollars you spend on outsourcing will triple after your first project. Nice, ha?

4. Dont spend what you earn

Working with outsourcing companies brings you a big advantage: you dont have any expenses. No programmers/designers to pay, no office rent, nothing. Just pure profit.

Raise the money for that nifty web 2.0 application or whatever project you want to launch. When you think you have enough, outsource the project. Get the same company that has worked for your clients projects work for you now.

5. And if you only want an IT company that builds websites, creates web, desktop or mobile apps

stick to outsourcing. Get a good western Project Manager that will be the interface between your Company and your Clients. Take advantage of the internet and develop all your projects with Outsourcing Companies. Its the best thing an IT Company can do.

Real-life couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz play the prominent roles of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, a married couple living in a New York apartment complex. Ricky is a Cuban-born band leader who wows night clubs with his act, while Lucy is a homemaker. Lucy and Ricky's best friends are landlords Fred and Ethel Mertz who often become intertwined in Lucy's get-rich-quick schemes, screwball ideas, and comic shenanigans. Former masters of the stage, the cast comes across as a likeable bunch, with Lucille Ball stealing the show with her goofy antics and brilliant facial contortions. What women should know when dating

Unlike before, when the total outcome or atmosphere of dating solely depends on the man, women of today have learned how to take part of the entire process. They have realized that in order to make most out on a date, they have their own roles to play. They are now more enthusiastic and open to the idea that if they want to have a successful date, they have to follow basic and general rules in datingespecially in first dates.

WHEN EVE GOES ON A DATE

Even the most confident women experience anxiety attacks when they go out on a datewhat more to those who are not so confident about themselves? If a woman decided to go on dateespecially with the man she is interested withthere should be no space for self-doubt. Although being rejected can be a horrifying thought, women can never go wrong if they follow the simple rules on dating.

If you are up on a date, the first thing to consider is how to make the date itself enjoyable for the both of you. If he suggests something you cannot comfortable with, then offer him other alternatives. Theres no good in going on a date that you cannot enjoy yourself.

If you are too nervous and you think youre not one of those women that are good conversationalists, make up for it by suggesting an activity that would keep you both preoccupied. This would take the pressure off on both parties and may lead to a more fluid conversation. (Tip: try to stay in tune with current events so the man will discover youre not only pretty but smart as well.)

After breaking the ice, keep yourself in check. Make sure that you dont go overboard by making nasty comments or by getting too close because this will turn him off. If you want to get a mans attention, pay a lot more attention to him by listening to him rather than you talking.

Before leaving your house for a date, make sure that you leave your emotional baggage behind. Being emotional on a date over something will make a man feel you dont need a lover but a psychologist or therapist.

Here are additional general rules on dating:

1. Always be gorgeous, decent, or at least presentable whatever your income is. Gorgeous women are one of the mens guilty pleasures. Looking your best with that gorgeous hair, fancy clothes, and make-up can make you a head-turner anywhere.

2. Be discreet and mysterious. Especially on first dates, giving out too much pieces of information that are unnecessary will only turn him off. Remember, mysterious and enigmatic women stay on mens minds compared to those who are not.

3. Know when less is more. Dates dont have to take so much time as long as you keep the man interested. Lesser time might even pave the way for the second, third or fourth date because he would think that you need more time to know each other.

4. Keep that figure in check. Slim or fit women appeals to most men because it gives the impression that these women know how to take care of themselves. Taking a time off to workout in a fitness center or gym can be your investment in looking for your dream guy.

5. Time check. Remember, first impressions last thats why you have to make sure that you are on time when you go out on a date.

6. Be interesting and interested. Although your date did not turn out to be your dream guy, be lady enough to stick until the end by keeping your sense of humor.

7. Even if you believe in gender equality, let the man pay the bills.

What Is A VoIP Phone?

In spite of the growing popularity of IP telephony, there are still many people who do not know what a VoIP phone is. What is the difference between a VoIP phone and an ordinary phone?

As far as you are concerned, probably not a lot. You can still use your own landline phone if need be, though in its simplest form there is no VoIP phone handset as such. Just a microphone and speakers will do. All you need is some software which is supplied by the provider.

You can use your normal land-line phone. Just like digital TV requires a box, either set-top or included in the set, VoIP needs a box which you can either buy yourself, or get from your VoIP provider. Once you connect your phone to the box and the box to your internet connection, you have your VoIP phone system using your own phone. Due to the connection speeds involved you have to have broadband or another high-speed internet connection.

Your telephone conversation passes through the internet in packets in the same way as any other file does. As you speak, your analogue voice signal is digitized by the VoIP software into binary form, and the digital stream broken up into small 'packets' which are sent through the internet. These packets each take their own fastest route through the internet, from computer to computer, till they reach their destination. This is the way that all files are sent through IP.

The problem with a streamed signal, such as a VoIP phone conversation, and a packet system, is that the packets do not always arrive in the correct order. This is due to the releative amount of internet traffic each packet comes up against, and the fact that they can each take different routes. Also, some packets are lost, or 'dropped'.

Modern software is becoming increasingly better at arranging packets in the correct order (often through slight time delays which allow them to be rearranged) and covering up 'dropped' packets. VoIP phone conversations are therefore more audible now than they were in the early days of VoIP phone systems.

As I said, you can use your computer microphone and speakers to make and receive conversations, but you can also get a dedicated VoIP phone if you prefer. It's all a matter of choice and does not significantly affect the services you can have.

Some of the services supplied free with VoIP phone systems are:

* Caller ID
* Call waiting
* Call forwarding
* Voicemail
* Conference calls
* Call transfer
* Group pick-up

Once you have your box, any calls you make to another VoIP are free anywhere. For calls to non-VoIP phones there is a charge, but this is generally lower than normal land-line charges.

Your phone number relates to the adaptor, so you can take this with you and use it on any computer with fast internet connection. You can also buy a VoIP phone to go with your laptop and make telephone calls anywhere at any time; just as you can with a mobile, but at a fraction of the cost, and usually free to any other IP phone. This is an excellent inexpensive solution for businesses with a network of offices all calls between them will be free throughout the world.

Another cool feature is virtual phone numbers. You can get local area numbers allocated to your regular phone number, so that if your family live in LA and you are in New York they can ring your LA local number with their landline and speak to you in New York at local rates. How cool is that!

A VoIP phone is now an attractive option for anyone, both as a cheap alternative to a mobile phone and as a complete replacement for a landline.

Stepping out of your comfort zone can seem a little risky if you are used to a steady paycheck from a regular job, with a family or other financial obligations, makes. If your employers business doesn't conflict with your dreams, then your employer could be your ticket to a successful freelance business. If you were thinking of starting a freelance copywriting business, you could negotiate a contract with your current employer for reduce your time to half for the first year after you leave. This would give you a springboard for finding other clients while still covering your monthly expenses.

You're maybe wondering why your employer would agree to sign a contract for half of your time. There are a number of reasons that can result in a "win-win" situation for both of you.

If you and your employer are on good terms, the chances are she doesn't want to lose you. It takes time to train someone to fill your job, train them to the company's way of being productive, and training costs money.

Even if she decides to replace you, it can take months for her to gather resumes, interview candidates, and hire the right person. During that time you can be performing varies job functions from your home office, perhaps even training your replacement and providing your boss with a smoother transition by minimizing the disruption to her business.

If an employer has to choose between firing you and paying severance and benefits versus signing a contract for a time period, which do you think she'd prefer? Signing and getting tangible work and services in return without the costs associated with terminating you is a much better deal for him. The contract may even be allocated from a different budget category, making it more affordable for the company.

There's another reason your boss may choose a contract. That is your knowledge. You are already familiar with the company, its clients, and services. You're able to provide the services they need and you understand what has to be done. Many creative people have used this logic in approaching their bosses to negotiate their first contract and go out on their own.

Nevels believes students have been historically underrepresented in the local trade unions, and believes it is time to change that status quo.

Both Nevels and the Philadelphia schools believe that the city benefits, when graduated students are gainfully employed and productively adding to the community in a positive manner. When these students are from low-income families and are allowed to raise themselves out of the poverty level, the community benefits exponentially. Trades offer non-college bound students just the opportunity for such future growth and lifestyle improvement.

In June 2006, a four-year deal was announced between the Philadelphia schools and the Building and Construction Council (AFL-CIO). Politicians, business leaders, and educators alike are calling the deal significantly historical for the city and its future.

As part of a $1.7 billion construction and maintenance contract with the Philadelphia schools, the Council through its local trade unions will provide a minimum of 250 apprenticeship opportunities for Philadelphia schools students, who meet the requirements. Potentially, 425 apprenticeships for graduates could be offered over the four-year period. It is estimated that the majority of the students to qualify will be minorities from low-income families, a truly remarkable shot in the arm for the families, as well as the city. It also means the Philadelphia schools can offer these students more opportunities to learn skills that could potentially lift them out of the poverty level.

The Council will be working with the Philadelphia schools to develop the curriculum. They will host seminars for students to pique their interest and motivate them to apply for the apprenticeship programs. The Council also will monitor the results of the apprenticeships for co-review with the Philadelphia schools.

With nearly 200,000 students currently enrolled in the Philadelphia schools and about 12,000 graduating each year, this program was desperately needed for both the students and the community. Its expected that a minimum of 62 students will enter the apprenticeship program each of the four years, though there are potentially more apprenticeships available.

This four-year deal between the Philadelphia schools and the Building and Construction Council is truly groundbreaking for the city of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia schools can offer more to their students. The students get an opportunity that may not have been otherwise available to them. The trade unions can build their memberships with young, vibrant workers, as well as build their diversity. The city gets more productive community members. It is a win-win situation for everyone.

Solar homes. Many people talk about them, although few in the U.S. do more than talk. They are said to reduce utility bills. Some say a solar home cuts utility bills drastically. Some are able to sell excess power back to the power grid. Savings are not automatic, however. Steps must be taken to make the solar home efficient; to conserve the electricity that is produced.

Ways to conserve solar photovoltaic power in the home must be found. The home owner must actively seek out ways to make those photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roof as efficient as possible. Photovoltaic power is free, but it cannot be generated in unlimited quantities. It is important to take measures to use it to best advantage.

Of all the ways to conserve solar photovoltaic power in the home, the most important is probably replacement of power-gobbling electric appliances. Home lighting can also be changed to conserve solar photovoltaic power (PV power). Finally, power usage can be reduced by making every person in the solar home conscious of conservation methods.

12 Ways to Conserve Solar Photovoltaic Power in the Home

1. Shop for energy-efficient appliances and home electronics for your solar home. Most products in this category carry EnergyGuide labels. These labels give an estimate of the products' energy consumption or energy efficiency, and show the ratings of similar appliance models. In the U.S., appliances and home electronics that meet strict Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) energy efficiency criteria carry Energy Star labels.

2. Replace an electric water heater in a solar home with an energy-efficient propane or natural gas heater. Connect the new water heater to a solar water heater system. The sun will preheat the water, and the new unit will have less work. Wrap the water heater with thermal wrap to retain heat.

3. Replace the solar home's electric furnace with an energy-efficient propane or natural gas unit. Install a solar panel air heater to reduce the work load of the new furnace. If you are building a new solar home, consider passive ways to heat the floors and air, further reducing the workload.

4. If the solar home is in a hot, dry climate, use an evaporative cooling unit in place of an electric air conditioner.

5. Check weather stripping around all windows and doors. Seal cracks and openings. Stopping air leakage in and out can improve indoor climate control in every season.

6. Insulate the solar home well. Insulation will keep heat or cool air from escaping. It will also keep outdoor cold or heat from entering readily.

7. Use heavy, insulted drapes and window shades/blinds in the solar home to keep out hot or cold air, making cooling and heating units work more efficiently.

8. A serious solar home owner can save even further by using a solar oven for cooking whenever possible. Especially good in hot climates or summer months, a solar oven will cook food with solar energy, and avoid heating the home. Money is thus saved in two ways.

9. Control of computer usage is another of the many ways to conserve solar photovoltaic power in the home. Monitors should be turned off whenever the computer will not be in use for 20 minutes or more. The CPU and monitor both should be turned off when the unit will not be used for 2 hours or more. Power down or sleep modes should be set.

10. Replace light bulbs with Energy Star qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs. If every U.S. home replaced just one light bulb with one of these bulbs, we would save more than $600 million in annual energy costs. To the solar home owner, such savings are vital.

11. Maximize your use of daylight, turning on lights only when necessary. Use windows to advantage, and install skylights where possible.

12. Landscape your property to block the heat of summer sunlight, permit winter sunlight. Deciduous trees near the solar home will shade windows in the summer, and let warming sunlight through in winter months.

Ways to conserve solar photovoltaic power in the home are not limited to these twelve, but if these alone are used, the increase in efficiency will be tremendous.

There is no organization in this world that works without a set of rules. Even nature has rules that it follows and you can clearly identify the reason of why the whole universe is running so systematically. There has to be a confined set of objectives and rules for correct functioning. That is why whether it is any sport or it is some kind of business there are rules for everything.

In the sports world golf holds a dignified position. It came to existence in the 17th century. Every new idea is hard to accept but golf held its ground very fast and in this century it is loved more than any other sport. Golf is about fun. It takes a good hand to make you love this game. It is elegant and dignified because you don't have to run after balls, you don't have to kick balls, you don't have to shout, scream or pant out of exhaustion. By the time you have made to pocket your golf ball you can walk away calmly and gracefully.

When golf began it had around 13 rules and the bad part was that it was only a man's game. Women weren't allowed; the reason of which is not understood. Then some years later new rules were made and the already existing ones were amended. Anyhow the rules now sum up to around 45 that include every minor rule of golf. The true happiness and triumph that a person achieves is when he wins fairly. Never can anyone attain pure satisfaction if the success is embraced by violating the rules.

The basic objective of golf is getting the golf ball into the hole in a golf course. There can be a single player which really has its own joy. He is to use the 14 golf clubs to make the shots at the ball. The simple game has 18 holes to go. And the game is won when the player scores the least in completing those shots. It is quiet easy, the right club, the right angel and posture can make you score without much effort. This should provide any person to at least consider trying out a game of golf if he hasn't tasted playing it yet.

From October 16-28, Women In Film present "Creating Your Own Yellow Brick Road", an exploration of entrepreneurial and non-traditional Hollywood career options, held in Los Angeles. At Entertainment and Media Forum 2006 industry leaders gather in Beverly Hills, October 18 & 19, to review the challenges faced by entertainment and advertising executives to reach and engage consumers by todays leading edge technologies.

The theme at the 13th Annual Austin Film Festival and Conference, October 19-26, is "Telling Your Story By Any Means Necessary" featuring accomplished screenwriters and filmmakers participating in roundtables, panels, and with agents and producers on hand to network with. For the two day (October 20 & 21) that the 15th Annual Entertainment Law Institute will meet in Austin, a review of current legal issues, such as copyright protection for sound recordings, digital distribution of music and film distribution models are on the agenda. Nashville Songwriters Association International and Nashville Songwriters Foundation puts on an induction ceremony from Nashville October 22. CMJ Music Marathon and CMJ Film Fest launches October 31 running through November 4 featuring dozens of panels covering topics affecting all corners of the music industry in addition to live music and film screenings.

Obsession and Desire in Film Noir

What makes a good film noir romance? And how is it different from, say, a romantic comedy or romantic drama?

A romance in any genre surely must have plenty of trouble and complications to create enough tension to captivate audiences.

The difference in classic film noir lies partially in the universe which the characters inhabit. Whether it's a seedy dive bar, a stuffy New York apartment, or a fancy house on Russian Hill, the noir ambiance pervades.

But film noir lovers are different too. They're not just two schmucks in love trying to make it work.

Instead, our protagonist is usually overcome with an obsessive and/or fatalistic desire. And, it's usually the male (except in Joan Crawford movies), who is the one haunted and driven.

And that's why the femme fatale is so prevalent in noir. She may be consciously or unconsciously seducing him into her web for her own desperate needs or she may be merely using him to further her own position in an underground world of crime. She often "belongs" to some more powerful, even evil kingpin.

Problem is, she usually falls for the very guy she set out to use and then the two of them are really in trouble. So, either she follows her heart and goes with the ever-suffering protagonist, thus incurring some form of mortal or legal danger for both of them, or she nobly sacrifices her own happiness to save her beloved.

Either way, it generally doesn't end well. But oh, how we love identifying with those fierce passions run amuck.

Other variations of the classic film noir love triangle involve a real sweet girl or wife, our male protagonist and the femme fatale.

Another common characteristic of film noir lovers is that our main guy knows he's going down, but just can't help himself. One or both of the lovers may be headed towards self-destruction, yet feels powerless or lacks the will to stop it.

Why are we so fascinated with film noir romances? Perhaps it's the irresistible fatalism these characters are caught up in, where the fragile promise of desire consummated is supplanted by an inner torment taken to the nth degree.

And for our voyeuristic pleasure, here are five examples of some favorite doomed-from-the-start film noir love affairs:

1. Johnny (Glenn Ford) and Gilda (Rita Hayworth) in "Gilda" (1946). The pain is palpable in this complex love triangle. Johnny's best friend and boss is Ballin (George MacCready), a man whose new bride happens to be Johnny's ex flame. He can't bear the way she treats his friend, but is also tormented by his own rekindled attraction to her and vice versa.

2. Mae Doyle (Barbara Stanwyk) and Earl (Robert Ryan) in "Clash By Night" (1952). Mae Doyle tires of her new nice- guy husband and goes after his dark and moody friend Earl. They embark on a torrid, unhappy affair.

3. Mark (Dana Andrews) and Laura (Gene Tierney) in "Laura" (1944). Quietly intense detective Mark McPherson falls hard for the beautiful woman in a portrait who is supposedly dead. His obsession grows as he investigates her things and the men in her life.

4. Helen (Claire Trevor) and Sam (Lawrence Tierney) in "Born to Kill" (1947). He's a killer and she knows it, but Helen and Sam are fiercely attracted. She tries to avoid him since she's already engaged, so he goes after her rich sister instead. This only incites their passion and things get lethal.

5. Jeff (Glenn Ford again) and Vicki (Gloria Graham) in "Human Desire" (1954). Jeff's the nice-guy train engineer who gets sucked into murder and mayhem by the irrepressible Vicki, whose husband Carl (Broderick Crawford) is obsessed with jealousy and suspicion.

As these films illustrate, a film noir "romance" is rarely a just a sweet love affair which happens to be set in a dark alley. Rather, it's usually a desperate attraction between two otherwise alienated souls who find a rare kinship in one another. But due to circumstances of their noir universe (whether external or internal), it seems their union can only lead to destruction, whether to themselves or to others.
